Tah.....Dah..!

Well, I did it! I finally finished "My favorite Thing" quilt. Last night I put on a DVD, The Polar Express, and worked on hand sewing the binding until 11:00 p.m. I just love that movie. I was exhausted!

Hurray, I will not get to be UFO Queen. My daughter has already claimed this quilt! She's so funny that way. When ever I make a quilt she'll say "Oh, is this for me?"

Do you see my kitty block? She's missing two (2) eyes. Can someone come over and do two (2) French knots for me? My kitty cannot see very well! No matter how hard I try, my French knots never turn out good. I promise to be a good host!

This is the best I can do for those who like to see the machine quilting. I'm one of those individuals! I find it inspiring. The light sashing has continuous hearts and the border has feathers. The background of the block is meandering and some outlining.

Thank you everyone for your encouragement. It makes working on UFOs so much more fun when I can share my accomplishments with you. You gals are the best!

Today, I spent the day in Essex, Vermont at the Vermont Quilt Festival. I did take some pictures of the quilt exhibit, so tonight I'll attempt to get them organized so that I can give credit where credit is due.

I did buy a few things but not much. My main concern was getting stencils for machine quilting. The major part of my expenditure was on threads. Did I mention that I have fallen in love with the Master Piecing thread by Alex Anderson? I used it on this quilt and absolutely loved it. So I bought more spools at the Superior Thread booth. I haven't used it for piecing yet, which appears to be its specialty. Once I do, I will let you know.

Tomorrow I shall be going sailing for the weekend. It was a tough decision to make; do I want to sail or do I want to quilt? Two of my favourite all time activities. But given that it is summer, I'll sail!

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Carole, your quilt is just beautiful, I love it. Have you tried doing a colonial knot instead of the french knot. you might find it a bit easier. Enjoy your weekend sailing.

Carole, the quilt is lovely, and I am thinking that you would have great sucess with colonial knots, rather than those darn french knots. By the way the Masterpiece thread is excellant for piecing . I love it, and when I find it buy several neutral colours. Happy quilting ;-)

Beautiful quilt. I would claim it too if I were your daugheter.
Come on up to Maine and I will do some french knot eyes for you. :-D

Beautiful quilt--I just love the kitty block! I'd offer to do the french knots, but since I'm in Washington (state, not DC), it'd be quite a trip!

Your quilt is too cute not to claim. Lucky daughter! I'm sending you a link to a video showing French knot. The main thing is to keep that working thread taut against your needle as you pull the thread through. =)

Carole, "My Favorite Things" turned out absolutely, positively fantastic!!! Good job. Your kitty looks good even without the eyes. I went sailing for the first and only time 3 years ago on Puget Sound and it was the most fun thing I have ever done. Have fun! Nancy

I understand your DD claiming the quilt for hers. It is fo fun when they do that. I would love to come and make french knots :)but it's a long way from Norway to you.
Love your stencils. Have never seen the one you got (and I got over 60 stencils in my quiltroom)

It is a beautifull quilt. Just find two very little buttons and add them as eyes. I would love to do the french knots for you, but like May Britt the Netherlands are a very long way to travel.

Oh Carole...It is beautiful! Well done!!! If I was closer I'd do your French knots for you..it's about the only embroidery that I'm good at.
I used to go to the Vermont festival when I lived in Montreal. Our group always hired a bus for the day. It was always such a good show.
Hope you have a great time sailing..again something I used to do years ago in Montreal...good old Lake St. Louis..or Lake St. Pouis as it was always a bit polluted LOL. TTFN

Beautiful quilts! I also have fallen in love with Masterpiece thread. I bought a lot of it at the Machine Quilter Expo in New Hampshire this year,

That quilt looks like summertime...love the colors. I've always heard about the Vermont Quilr Festival. Great purchases. I'm an 'X' girl. French knots are tough, I usually change to "x"'s.

It's beautiful, Carole!! I look at it and just feel 'summertime'! Great job, no wonder your DD wants it! :) I haven't even heard of the Master Thread. Hmmm, guess I better go check that out, huh? LOL

Beautiful quilt Carole, you could just add buttons or beads for the eyes like the others said. My Burmese Bailey will also sit on my quilts and watch the machine, then unexpectedly grab the thread on the top of the machine with his mouth.

Beautiful, Carole. I'm not surprised your DD claimed it. Robyn Pandolph pattern with Robyn Pandolph fabric - awesome!

The quilt looks wonderful. I think your daughter is a very smart girl :))

I can't do french knots either but I'm happy to come over and we could practice together :)) - or maybe just go shopping - LOL

Have fun sailing!

Wonderful, Carole! I used to have trouble with French knots too, but since I've started quilting and learned how to properly knot a thread, I find French knots are very similar. Have a great time sailing--quilting will wait! Love your stencils too--it's hard to find much of a selection at quilt shops; looks like you picked up some good ones.

It is a beautiful quilt. Alex's thread for piecing is great and for sewing on the binding because it hides well. Being so fine. Also my bobbins go longer becuase I can get more of that thread on my bobbin. You can do the french knots. Just practice, If you can machine quilt you can do french knots.

Isn't Superior Thread the best?!!

Congrats on a great finish!
