I can dream ..... can't I?

Saw this gem!  Don't you think it would make a wonderful quilt shoppe?

It always bothers me to see such beautiful buildings, many full of history, abandoned and in disrepair.  Oh well, I can dream!

On the quilting front I have been busy starting and finishing quilt tops.  When I say finishing, I just mean in a "flimsy" state.

This little quilt is called Heritage Star by Kim Diehl.  Love love love that fabric line! I'll have to schedule a date with Penelope soon .... the quilt tops are piling up!

On a humourous note ..... I had a friend visit me for lunch today and as soon as she left, an order of gorgeous batiks came in.  So I texted her using the voice feature of the Iphone ......

I laughed so hard I was crying!  Feels wonderful!  Still laughing! Gotta love voice recognition .... it's the best one yet!

Enjoy your day!  Cheers!

What an emotional week ...!

Life has been busy around here with college visits and what not!  Pumpkin (DD) and I logged more than 900 miles in three (3) days and two (2) nights.  We had three (3) colleges to visit which were somewhat close by.  So far she has narrowed her choices down to two (2).

Monday, on our way back, Pumpkin treated me to the Cheesecake Factory.  The closest one to our house is three (3) hours south.  We are both Big Bang Theory lovers and thought this would be a great experience for us.  Gosh were we shocked!

Yea, this Cheesecake Factory is much nicer than the one in the sitcom! The dessert was amazing and the food too! lol

On the quilting front, I have been doing mainly some hand embroidery.  Yea, I'm still in my quiet mood.  I've been working on these flour sack towels using the Rise and Shine pattern.  First batch of towels:

These flour sack towels measure 28 in x 28 in. I really like the feel of those towels.

Aren't those the cutest designs?  The design size is perfect for those towels!

Progressing right along!  A wee bit more to stitch!

Thank you for stopping by!  Catch you later!  Cheers!

Sigh ....!

Yesterday I received a notice from one of my favourite magazines stating that this will be their last issue.  A magazine on "sustainable City Living" that can no longer financially sustain itself!

It is not the first time that one of my favourite magazines closes its doors, but somehow this one affects me in ways that I am not sure I understand.  Perhaps I feel that, as I get older, more and more of what is familiar to me is quickly being replaced by the unfamiliar.  In an age of continuous fast pace digital, I long for what is comforting to me, a slower paced and somewhat simpler life.  I now understand what my grandparents meant when they would say "the good old days" or "back in the days".

For me, the continuous fast pace digital life lacks human connection; "high tech low touch" has Michael Bernard Beckwith would say.  And ... if we are not careful and monitor ourselves, the "high tech" can make it easy for some of us to forget that, at the other end of our internet connection is another human being, a being that has tender feelings .... someone that hurts just like us.

If I look at the last 25 years of my life, I left a stressful position in the banking industry to pursuit a graduate degree in the history of religious philosophy.  Afterwards, I opened a quilt shoppe!  Hum .... What next?

I'm not sure I have worked through my feelings.  I mean, I know it is not about the magazine closing, but something deeper .... Right now, what I know for sure is that there are a lot of changes that will be taking place in my life soon ....

Take time to enjoy the moment!  Cheers!

Aussie Chocolate fest ...!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter or Passover, which ever one you celebrate.  As for myself, we went down to Massachusetts to spend time with family.  Always a fun filled weekend full of food and good company.

As most of you know, I have a dear, crazy and I love her so much, friend Cheryl who is one of the most generous souls I have ever met in my life.  She's my Aussie friend and every Easter she sends a box of Australian chocolates.

We're talking a Chocolate fest here!  Yea, I am just about to go into a choco coma!

In my quest to relief some guilt, I grab an apple.  Have you ever seen such a big Fuji apple?!

Yea .... that's a chocolate egg for the leaf!  Makes the apple look so appetizing doesn't it?  Well, that's the smallest one I could find.  That is a meal in itself.  How does one grow such big apples?

Normal Apple

I'd eat the smaller apple if I could, but it's rotten.  I photographed it's good side!

If you need me I'll be on a chocolate buzz compliment of an Aussie!  Catch you later!  Cheers!
