It's a done deal ....!

The mystery quilt has been delivered! For the curious ones, the recipient was my mum!

I think she was a tad happy to receive it. Her eyes teared up ... it's a good sign! I love my mum to pieces!

I managed to capture this photo of the both of us. I love how it turned out!


I will admit, it feels great to get a UFO project completed! It takes the weight off one's shoulders. I would strongly recommend that you take an inventory of your UFOs. Make a list .... here is how I designed my quilt project sheet ...


Then, get rid of the ones you are no longer passionate about ... I write down where the quilt project went. This way I have a record of what happened to that project.

For those curious about the machine quilting on my mum's quilt, I did an edge to edge ....


Used Hobbs 100% wool batting. I will admit, I'm loving wool! It's light .... and oh so comfy! I now use wool batting for all my winter quilts (and for some I give away) and cotton for the others. What is your choice of batting?

    I have predominately used wool in my quilts for 15 years, but just discovered how much lighter cotton is and also easier if I am going to quilt it myself. So just requested my LAQ to use cotton in my next few big quilts.

    still working out what I love to use...........I do have a UFO list but it needs to be updated..........didn't think to write the start dates on my sheet.......I'm sure your mum will love the quilt..........

    Oh I love this one!
    And of course I use wool given I live in a land that produces some of the finest wool fibre in the world. I have only made one quilt with cotton and did not like the feel compared to the wool I am used to. But I did make some with various blends and loved the soft drape of silk/wool, and the added loft of mohair/wool. The "standard" wool blend batting here is 60/40 or 70/30 wool poly blend and it is just so nice and easy to work with and then to care for.
    You have inspired me to review my pile of boxed UFOs - not to finish but to pass on to others who will. I can no longer justify them as teaching aids rofl!!
