It's a finish...... Woooo.... hooo.....!!!!!

At last I have finished the Winter Sentry!

Isn't she sweet! I just love her! She looks so pretty against my brick wall!

Today was the day I decided that it had to be done. So I sat myself down and begin machine quilting. For the hat, I decided to follow the design on the fabric, which gave a cross hatch effect.

The only issue I have with her is that she's not hanging straight. I think, I hope, it's because I was a tad sloppy with the sleeve! Perhaps she just needs to hang out for a while to straighten herself out! ;o)

The other news is that I have completed my last two papers for school! What a great feeling it is! Wooooo Hoooooo.... I've got my music blaring and I'm in a dancing mood! Darn that music sounds good! I will be taking a small break from school before I bury myself in books again!

The other thing I want to tell you about is that Stephen finally decided to tackle the inserts for the drawers of my embroidery cabinet.

If you recall, last year he made me a Thread Notion Cabinet to store all my machine embroidery goodies. It's great to have it all organized. I enjoy opening the drawers and seeing all those colours. I will say, it was quite tedious for him to glue 3 (three) drawers of pegs. Thank you sweetie!

Thank you for stopping by! I always enjoy reading your comments!

  5. I love your Winter Sentry. I have that pattern and will have to make it now that I see yours. Where did you get your snowflake fabric for the background? I found a cream ground with blue flakes, but I like the blue with white better.

  7. I've been enjoying your blog for some time now and from reading through it I've realized that we must live close to one another (near Plattsburgh)? Most of the year I live in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia but we have a little house in Plattsburgh! I usually buy my fabric from Loose Threads Quilt shop maybe you have visited there? Nour is a nick-name that my husband calls me but my real name is Denise. I'm really feeling homesick right now!!!!! By the way, I love your blog - mine still sucks because I still haven't figured out how to do links etc.

  8. I love snowmen! Your colors are great. I think if you spritzed it with a litle water and 'blocked it', it would probably lay perfect. It looks like it should be square. Sometimes the density of the quilting can do that to a perfect quilt and usually a little blocking is the answer for a slight problem. Good luck and enjoy her,

  16. Hi Carole: Good for you with the classes - a break is nice! Love the Winter Sentry - so Scandinavian looking and what a great idea to keep those big spools in line. I have been using quart mason jars for mine as the antique spool cabinet only takes smaller spools.
Much snow there? We got a good dump night before last and it's dribbling on still.

  21. Hi Carol,
I am new to your blog and have enjoyed reading some of your recent posts. I like the little snowman and especially the limb or tree that she is carrying. Did you design this? What a nice cabinet you have for thread. Did you husband make the cabinet or just the thread inserts? I really like that and it looks great. I would just enjoy opening the drawers and admiring the thread. Might have to leave a drawer open if I had a quilting buddy coming over - just to show off !

  27. That's darling! I'm sure she'll straighten out, but if not, you can always block her--just spritz her with a little water and square her up and let her dry on a flat surface. She looks perfect for this time of the year, too!
